Dental Checkups & Cleanings – Garland, TX

Helping Create Problem-Free Smiles

Bi-annual dental checkups and cleanings in Garland offer young patients the chance to keep their teeth and gums free of cavities, decay, disease, and infection throughout the year. While Dr. Ben and Dr. Kaveh encourage routine oral hygiene at home, these visits allow us to take a closer look, checking for anything that might result in the need for restorative care. If it has been more than six months since your child’s last dental appointment, make sure to call and schedule an appointment with our office.

Why are Regular Dental Checkups & Cleanings Important?

Cavities and gum disease are two of the most common oral health problems seen by dentists throughout the world. When you combine the foods and beverages your child consumes, their novice brushing and flossing skills, and their busy schedule, it’s easy to see how bacteria and plaque can accumulate, resulting in the development of decay and infection.

Even children and teenagers who are diligent about their oral hygiene routine can experience unexpected cavities, which is why six-month dental checkups and cleanings are important. Our team uses advanced technologies to examine and diagnose a problem in its earliest stages, minimizing the potential for more invasive restorative care in the future.

What to Expect During a Dental Checkup

At Garland Pediatric Dentistry, your child’s checkup will be thorough, but we’ll make sure they remain comfortable throughout the process.

We’ll begin by escorting them to an open bay to take X-rays of their smile. This will give us a glimpse at the areas we cannot see during a visual examination. Then, we will begin with a tactile exam that involves checking for any signs of cavities, gum inflammation or bleeding, facial or oral abnormalities, bite misalignment, etc.

Based on our findings, we will discuss any concerns we might have with you and your child and develop a treatment plan designed to target problem areas and improve their oral health.

Before we craft a treatment plan, though, one of our skilled hygienists will perform a professional cleaning. This includes removing accumulated plaque and tartar from your child’s teeth and gumline. This ensures that inflammation, bleeding, and tenderness do not occur – all common symptoms of gum disease.

We’ll then floss between teeth before giving them a final polish. This will allow your child to leave with a fully refreshed smile that looks and feels great.
